Many children have very ‘groovy’ permanent teeth when they first come into the mouth which can be very difficult to clean. This can lead to early cavities forming on the newly erupted permanent teeth. To protect the new teeth when they come in our Pediatric specialists may recommend having a sealant to be placed on the tooth. A sealant is made of the same material that is used in a white filling. It is viscous so it can easily flow into the grooves to protect food from getting stuck into these deep areas and also make it easier for children to clean. Placing a sealant is a simple procedure that requires the tooth to be cleaned and sealed. There are no needles involved. At Dental Works 4 Kids we focus on early preventative treatment, which can help save later headaches and unnecessary costs.
